Search Engine Optimization
Wikipedia's definition of SEO is "the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural" or un-paid ("organic") search results." Naturally, the higher a page ranks in search engines, the more visitors the site gets.
Search engines try to weed out websites that they believe to be spam. If your website is nothing but advertisement, or perhaps you have too muct content that is not relevent to the topic, chances are you will not get very high in rank.

In today's business world, it is nearly impossible to gain exposure without having a live website. In fact, study shows that a small business without a website is virtually invisible!
"According to the Nielsen Online Custom Survey from WebVisible, Inc.," stated Dale Stefancic, co-owner of Entrepreneurs On Call, "92% of consumers have first researched a product on the Internet, and then have purchased that product locally at least once. The end result is that the business that has a website is much more likely to end up with that consumer in their local store. The Internet no longer serves the global marketplace exclusively but now impacts directly the sales of the smalllocal business. Without a website to direct and inform the local customer, a small local business will soon no longer stand any chance of real local success."
Many people consider using free website services to try and get their business on the Web. There are a few problems with this.
1- A lot of people are using the SAME template as you.
2- SPAM!- Most free website templates contain hidden links in the footer. They have a rule that you must not remove the links inside the footer if you want to use the template.
3- Search engines HATE free templates. Since most free websites have hidden links, search engines will consider those links to be spam links.
Even though we live in a world where everything is based on computers, standard forms of advertisement are still very much important for businesses. Whether it is for brand development (business cards, custom stationary, post cards, flyers, etc.) or promotional items (Clothing, iPhone cases, keychains, pens, etc.), graphic design is important when wanting your business to stand out among competition.
Logos identify who you are. They are what will stay in a person's mind when thinking of a service they need. When you think of Nike, what do you think of? Probably their famous curved checkmark, correct? Logo designs are a flat $20.
